Bike Rodeo: Details for Volunteers and Participants

This was the public page for staff and participants at the Southern Crescent Bike Rodeo on September 6, 2014 -- so it provides a possible starting point for a plan for a future Bike Rodeo.

The Event Flyer is being circulated (you may circulate too) and the second page/back side has the rules for the distribution process for the 76 bicycles that will go to new riders (courtesy of a local company) -- and these are all super nice Raleighs and Diamondbacks. You can sign up using this "Sign Up Genius" page for the following areas with need:

  • Bike Raffle Team (mainly individual counselors for the new riders on Saturday, plus early Saturday transport, and a "Thank You Note" team),
  • the "Feed Station" or Concession Team (at the minimum, a hot dog, chips, fruit, lunch for attendees, it could be more),
  • several Bike Safety Stations to be sure all riders know the rules to ride safely,
  • even more Bike Skill Stations to let the riders show their stuff,
  • and a set up team to get it all together (this will need some more advance planning).

The sign up shows a general time of 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, because staff need to be on site before the 10:00 am start and stay to clear the site after the 2:00 pm end ... some jobs and most "Task Team Leaders" will need to be on site earlier to organize.  If you can only help for "part of the day", that's OK, just note that in a Comment.  Also, you can sign up for multiple jobs ... some will be busier early (Bike Raffle, Safety Stations) and some busier later (Skill Stations).  The Participation Card for those who attend is also attached ... this is a draft -- subject to finalizing when we walk the site and get commitments from outside bike and other groups.  If you would like to participate, please contact the District Commissioner.

Here is the weather forecast.
